Played a gig with the Bad Fucks last night, using my drum kit. The bass head has had a slight damage in it for about a year; a round hole like a singe just to the left of the beater patch. I've always suspected, without any real proof other than circumstantial, someone who once kipped on my lounge floor when extremely drunk while my drumkit was down there, but anyway, it's held for at least a year and not been a problem so I'd not thought about it. Last night someone was using a double kick pedal on it, though, with one beater neatly hitting the damaged bit, I suspect. I'm glad I never did cut a hole in the front head as I've been meaning to for months as that meant they could turn it round, tape a section ripped from the broken head on as a new beater patch, and carry on, but I scooted off to fetch someone else's bass drum anyway for the next band.

Not sure what to make of last night. We were second on, but the first band, CJD, are worse than we ever were. All mohicans and tartan and not even being good at being crap at it, type of thing. Pissed Resistance weren't bad at all, more melodious but they do it well. I'd been wanting to see Geronimo Arkwright for ages on the basis if the name and the bills they'd been on but I'm glad I'd never paid money to, is all I can say. Good building blocks, like some busy drum stuff and excellent bass and guitar sounds, but badly put together and an off-tune singer. Bah.

Now, given that I've spent the weekend listening to music mostly of the bouncy and silly variety while travelling, and then spent last night at a punk gig, can anyone explain why I've got Kyuss's Whitewater ringing crystal clear through my head?
