Long way along
May. 12th, 2009 12:22 amI made a bit of a meteorological miscalculation on Sunday. The prevailing wind on the south coast is southwest, so if you're going west to Worthing, it's hard to get there but easier to get back. I did the twelve miles from my flat to Worthing in not much over an hour, including getting a bit lost at Shoreham, so I thought, crikey, all those sprint starts in London have done me more good than I thought, I shall go a bit further! So I did, past Ferring and almost to Angmering, and that was where I worked out that the wind was coming from an unusual easterly direction. Which made getting home rather harder than getting out. But I made it, and I'm not totally dead today (the all-you-can-eat sushi I had for dinner went down well though) and I actually cycled very nearly forty miles. That makes the idea of doing sixty five less unreal. The biggest problem was tingly fingers, which I may have to work out something to do about. The views were amazing too.
