1. cheap cymbals:
   The shiny lovely ones are all very well but for punk goodness I need a nasty cheapy crash/ride. I broke my Thunder one and was not happy, and have replaced it with a cheap Zildjian.
2. clutch:
   The only band I list directly in interests. I'm not quite sure why. They're not a band I sit and listen to all the time, but they're quite special to me, somehow. Southern blues rock with a metal background and a singer spinning reference-packed stories out of the unlikeliest things and they kick every sort of arse live.
3. dooom:
   Let us count the o's. Another thing that has to be experienced live to really *get*.
4. energy:
   It's all terribly existential, innit? I like sensation, first hand information, it takes the application of energy to go out and *do* stuff, I like doing stuff, I like seeing other people enjoying the sensation of doing.
5. gigging:
   Feel it some more.
6. gravy:
   I am from the North. The gravy-less chip remains a sorry sight to me, but one I've got dangerously used to here in the heathen south. Just say no to horrible crunchy bits in your chips, boys and girls.
7. monochrome:
   It's a BBS, from the days when text-based communication was all there was, and I've been using it for ten years. It's heavily implicated in me failing my first degree. It's where I learnt how to break out of the life of utter passivity my mother had prepared me for. I have met a worryingly large number of partners through it. Umm.
8. potatoes:
   I am from the North. Chip-less gravy is, well, okay but a bit short on point. Apart from that, they are endlessly satisfying to eat, preparable in so many excellent ways and great fun to grow too. There's nothing as irrationally pleasing as turning over a forkful of ground and having perfect glowing new potatoes tumble out of it.
9. real ale:
   Well, you know. Booze; some of it tastes really nice. I think the combination of it also making you drunk makes it a winner.
10. sewing:
    I have a whole list of things that women aren't supposed to have, like big feet, broad shoulders, 36" legs, an interest in being able to move freely, and a very practical disposition. Which means I get around the difficulty of buying clothes by making them.

There's one song on The Breeders' Title TK - I'm at work now so can't check which - where the drummer uses a cheap crash, and it sets my teeth on edge every time he/she* plays it. It really does sound like tinfoil.

Now, cheap snare sounds I don't have so much of a problem with...

* I know Kim Deal played lots of the drums on Title TK herself, but I can't remember whether this was an example.
