Seven hours before the start time, with the guitarist already on his way down from Preston, with Paul having got a van for the gear, with the bloke at the place that stores the gear waiting for it to be picked up.

Which reminds me: I really ought to get on with drawing up a gig contract to send out to promoter types.

But I don't think promoters give a toss about them really, I wouldn't expect one to make a difference.

You'd be surprised. Without naming names, a band of my acquaintance weren't paid by a certain dodgy London promoter recently, but they waved their gig contract at him and threatened him with court, and all of a sudden he paid up.

Thing is, we were due to play Newcastle earlier this year, and so we booked our unrefundable train tickets (approx £110), only for the gig to be cancelled by the venue. We don't want that kind of thing to happen again.
