I HAVE NO HAIR
Dec. 17th, 2008 04:06 pmThe new Sugababes song made me wake up abruptly this morning. It's nicked off the same song as Soap Bar by Goldie Lookin' Chain, that is, Buttercorn Lady. Pffft.
I had to wake up abruptly, though, because this morning I went for a haircut. I don't like it. The idea was to keep my mother happy by getting rid of the split ends, but it's shorter than I wanted. I imagine it would still look like long hair, as the hairdresser insisted, on someone shorter, but on me it looks like a long bob. It reminds me of Cleopatra's wig in the RSC version I went to see with Jon. Any ideas for ways to style it so that I look less than forty welcome. There will be photographic evidence of the hair tragedy later.
Waking up abruptly is still hard; I'm still not properly well, though better. I have been experimenting with drinking beer and the answer is that I can have a bit but swigging pints is out. This morning I have huge bags under my eyes from only having seven hours sleep last night, instead of the nine or ten I seem to need at the minute. Grah.
Now,
boyofbadgers gave me an invite to Spotify so I have been trying it out. Verdict so far is; hmmm. It's less good than Pandora for leaving a bunch of random music going to listen to at work, and it doesn't know as much music, but then it is a beta. The adverts would be a killer for long listening. If I click on something in a playlist, I'd like it to carry on from that point in the list, not move that file to the top of the list and play from the top again. However it's going to be well useful for finding out some more about a particular artist or song that someone mentions, which Pandora (because of it trying to avoid specifics) and last.fm (because of licensing issues) weren't. Like, for example, sticking 'Buttercorn Lady' in and checking that it certainly is the song that both the Sugababes and Goldie Lookin' Chain have been nicking things off.
