Ladies and gentlemen, my knees are floating in space

It's now officially summer because I've got shorts on. Lots of bits and bobs of stuff to catch up with today; it's my first and last non-work day at home with nothing specific to do in a long time. Sometime at the end of May I'm signed up to do a charity bike ride from Cambridge to London, which is about 65 miles, and since I'm busy the next two weekends, this weekend is the only one I've got in which to do any sort of training ride, so I'm going to overcomplicate things and go to Brighton tomorrow in order to cycle the 24 mile round trip along the seafront to Worthing. Things I need to go shopping for now include a spare inner tube, a new bike water bottle because none of the random bottles we have to hand fit the cage and the old bottle is ancient and manky, and some citric acid with which to try and decorrode the first stage of my regulators, as in the bit of scuba kit that attaches to the tank. I'm using the first stage off Chris's auxiliary supply at the moment, but come June we'll be going to the Scilly Isles and it would be a cunning plan for Chris to have that back, which means I need to fix mine, which I currently can't because one of the bits I need to undo to get in it is quite corroded into place. I also need some nice cherry plum tomatoes at a reasonable price if I can find them, but that's just because I like them so much.

In other news, I got a paper nearly accepted yesterday, as in both the referees have recommended it for publication but there are a few issues that need addressing before resubmitting it but that should be fine. Number two with my name on, first one where I'm first author. I'm applying to go to a conference in October in Niagara Falls and I have to have the abstract in by the end of May; that abstract will be the nucleus of paper number three. Academic fun.

It's on Sunday May the 31st, and I'm already booked in to be staying over at Jon's on the Saturday night. I'd be happy to come and see anyone who's around on the Saturday night.

Cycling from Cambridge to London is fairly small change as far as you're concerned, isn't it?

Well, my most recent activity has been to pack from a 400, so I haven't exactly covered myself in glory. I'm in Cambridge that weekend if you fancy a refreshing pre-ride pint.
