I have spent the last couple of evenings servicing my first-stage regulator. Obviously this isn't something I've done before, but Chris had acquired a lot of books about it and various tools, and there's some more tools at work that have come in handy, and paying someone else to do it would be quite expensive, and my regs were second hand and having some sort of minor leak-like problem probably involving the piston not sealing properly. It was quite pleasing to be able to get it all apart and look at the bits and mess around with the o-rings (even if the manuals constantly refer to them as o'rings, *wince*) and the expensive lube, and get it all clean and in proper order and reassembled, but unfortunately it seems to still have the same problem. Which suggests that it's not the HP seat, it's the piston itself, although it didn't look damaged. That leaves me with no regs for the Scillies trip in a couple of weeks. So, hmm.
