shermaramaLike I said, Shriek was a pretty bad name; it seems that they sent a CD into Radio 1 with the slogan 'We Rock Like Girls Don't' on the back, and someone thought that was their name, and they decided they preferred it as a name anyway.
They now appear to be being plugged by Radio 1. I'm surprised to find how easily I sneer at the canny positioning, perhaps all the more so since part of the canny position is to claim not to be doing it. Just moved down from Glasgow, oh yes, fresh young things right off the train and pursuing that rock and roll dream; Ros has lived in London for at least a year and before the band was in its current state, in terms of personnel or name.
I say that, I wonder if they got their original bass player back again after all? The demo tracks available for download from the Radio 1 site are identical to the ones I've got on CD here. So, either they can still use the same tracks because they still have the same bass player or, they'd rather not re-record because this demo has a good name on it; Mark Freegard, who did production for the Breeders. Fair enough; it's a good sound.
Hmmmm, I say. Anyway, I'm off to finally see the live effect of Action, that is, Travis who tried having a band and decided it wasn't working so is still doing implausible things as a one-man show...
