I was having a weird dream last night. The first part of it was sort of an episode of Doctor Who, with people getting the rate they were passing through time set wrong and so only appearing in normal time intermittently like some sort of strobe effect (it took five days, which felt like about three minutes but three minutes where everyone kept disappearing and reappearing in slightly different places and positions, to explain this, because we were suffering from it too) and the Doctor having to do some complicated, only-one-chance thing involving little fluffy alien creatures that feed off time to reset someone who was more seriously lost into the right time-rate at the right place in time and of course he got it right, but then the person who'd been more seriously trapped was an ungrateful sort who wandered off back into the wrong time-rate again and the Doctor refused to do anything about it because he'd had his chance and hadn't taken it. Anyway in the second bit I was just a bit lighter than usual, or the gravity wasn't as strong or my muscles were being a bit more effective, and suddenly I found I could do handstands properly (which I've never been able to do at all) and was trying to learn how to do handsprings as a development of that, and I woke up feeling convinced I could learn to do them if I started doing a program of elevated-leg press-ups and increasing the elevation til I could easily hold a handstand and then spring myself off the floor again. This seems less realistic by this end of the day, but perhaps I ought to aim to try anyway. The radio alarm clock was playing me DJ Kool's Let Me Clear My Throat by then so this would now have to be my theme music if I ever could do a handspring. Maybe one day in space, eh?

Interesting factoid learnt this week: there are three countries in the world that have not officially adopted the metric system. They are Burma, Liberia and the USA. Pffft.

For shame, Liberia!

I believe the USA is also the only westernized country without healthcare, and one of only two which permits the advertising of prescription drugs to consumers.
