The temperature is rising steadily, the air is starting to cling, and everyone on my friends list is posting about sex. I spent last week in Germany, in Hamburg and at the Wacken Open Air festival, and spent far more of it thinking about sex than music. It must be something to do with temperature and humidity, though in the case of Hamburg it may also be to do with staying in a hotel inamongst and even patronising some of a street full of sex shops and strip clubs, and going to the Erotic Art Museum, and in terms of the whole holiday probably on account of making the travel arrangements to Stansted include Cambridge and Jon at both ends. It's also to do with unusual perspectives, matching infatuations and just the joy of new information coming in. But the music was still there and tangled up in it all as usual and so today, with the clinging air and the rising heat, and with a gig this evening, I'm right back in it again. Damn graphic renditions of cunnilingus. Someone recently asked me to describe the difference between sex with men and women but of course this is meaningless, it's all just people, but nontheless I know which way my imagination's turning today.

So, yeah, short notice SON gig and I don't even know who else is playing and I've never been to the place before either. We're getting pretty good these days, though, if I say so myself, and being about to record again are trying to build up a sort of critical mass of music played to get the songs playing themselves, to make them externally tangible so that when we come to record we only have to play along with something that is hanging there in the air already. We have a lot of gigs in the next few weeks and we keep being moved up bills.

but I guess if your playing alot you might not be able to
(having said that you could do a gig at BiCon - I think their's a live band night - there was in 2000)
someday I will finally get to come to a gig, I've really not been with it much these last 12 months

Yeah, just everyone who'd posted this morning had posted about sex, I think.

Not really thought about BiCon - it'd be good in terms of meeting people. The whole workshop thing confuses me, though. Is this a social event or some sort of forum for issues to do with bisexuality, and if the latter, what have juggling, self-harm and body painting got to do with it?

bicon is both those things
there are loads of workshops running during the day time about a wide varierty of things.
they loosely can be split into a varierty of groups
sexuality (and alternative sexualities)... BDSM, polyamoury, flirting etc
bisexuality and... paganism, magic, nudity, creative writing,
personal development... counselling, massage, relationships
bisexual activism... organsing confrences, running bi groups
fun and games.... juggling, non competive games, bouncy castle, shopping
typically you can find 3 workshops you want to do simultaneously at any one time
however what a lot of people end up doing is sitting in the bar or out on the grass chatting to friends and making new ones. Personally I've ovenly managed top get to about 3 workshops in the last 4 years.

In the evning there is enteratinment - so one night there might be a dressing up type ball, another seemingly a beach party, on another night there is the DIY disco (everybody brings 20 minute long CDs (as many as they want) of music they like and everybody else gets to vote on them and the most liked gets played during the evening.

typically after that there are a wide range of room parties happening, also people end up having sex parties, I personally havent been to any but some people spend evcery night at one - its totally variable

Bicon has for the most parts a 24 hour 4 day long party feel, but actually this year it could be a 6 day long party with it starting mid thursday and wrapping up around tuesday lunchtime (the actual con startes on thursday evening and ends monday afternoon) but things start happening early and there are always dead dog parties on the monday night

its an amazing event and well worth going to
I'm going to be there as well alexa_robinson and there are bound to be other people you know

the only proviso is that if you want a room you'll need to book in the next couple of days, having said that I know the site and they may well have left a few extra keys so if you miss the booking deadline you might still be able to get a room, but it isnt certain
