From Tasty fanzine:
" Son of Nothing - Tired of Waiting
Yikes! Thrash metal/punk? In this fair publication? Well, why not - it's not all airy-fairy tweepop out there is it?

This has got a real DIY sound to it (read into that what you will). I could go as far as to say the drummer sounds like he is playing on a completely different track from the rest of the band on 'Exposed/Reload' but I've seen photos of him and he's bloody massive, so that would be stupid.

The first couple of songs suffer from being a bit loose at times, even though there is the inklings of some Black Flag beginning to come through during 'I.F.H.Y.'. But by final track, 'Breakdown' everything has come together nicely - the killer riffs chugging along with some serious percussion. Some bloody gruesome album artwork though - very Geiger... "

See, when I muttter about Oz being a really quite violent with his drumkit I'm not kidding. S'good. Rather nice to be being even looked once at by people outside the usual sort of remit.

Meanwhile, we're a bit more up Dukester's street.

Expose/Reload / I.F.H.Y. / Breakdown

Two thirds of this demo I thought this group had traveled through time from 1978 to try and make it as a typical punk band in modern times. That's what I hear: a real punk sound that hadn't lost any vigor through the ages since then, the commercialism of recent times and without any middle-age spread or having calmed down. "Expose/Reload" is just that but with a middle section of build, suspense and prog-rock aesthetic that the band boast to include in their repertoire, while "I.F.H.Y." (guess what it stands for) is midpace then fast then back and forth to make an enjoyable and less predictable tune out of aforementioned-expected anger you'd expect. "Breakdown" starts with a few guitar licks you'd more likely hear in a rock n' roll outfit (something this band bring to the party pretty darn well too), positive to the ears but sung through gritted teeth. If half the Sex Pistols went rock n' roll, this is the product.Son Of Nothing
