Big Rocking Drum Sound
Aug. 18th, 2006 02:06 pmEee, the Dirty South. That was a great gig in terms of sound and together-ness (PJ are actually rocking at the minute, s'cool) but no-one was there and it took a lot of messing with drumkits. See, Public Enterprise formed a significant part of all three of the acts that weren't us last night, with variations in guitar and bass duties and an occasional extra member, one version before us and two afterwards and this was all very interesting but, thing is, see, PE's drummer is lefthanded. And I'm not. And the Dirty South use a fully miked kit. And the soundman was knackered after allegedly being there for 24 hours since Babyshambles were playing there the night before, so left, leaving the DJ to soundman even though he wasn't at all confident with the kit miking. Good job I've got some clue, then. We rebuilt the drumkit a total of four times last night, but hey, it all worked. Just a shame there was no-one there.
We're at it again tonight! Ho yus! At the Pleasure Unit in Bethnal Green. And, I only find out last night, we've agreed to bring ten people along. Ha. I'm shipping Jon in from Cambridge and I'm going to harass my flatmate but we'll have to see...
