I have four pairs of broken boots, three army-like and one steel-toe DMs. The uppers are still in usable condition on all four, one of the pairs of army boots were the comfiest boots I ever had, but in all four cases the soles are seriously broken, in a way that no amount of carpet glue or Timpson's stick-on soles will help. They ought to go somewhere, be useful for something, or at least not just go in landfill. Any ideas?

Are they sufficiently together that they can be used as plant pots? [livejournal.com profile] xanna has herbs in her broken army boots, and that seems to work quite well.

I was about to say, yes.
In fact for plant pots, broken is better, for drainage you see (unless you pop real plant pots inside). I drilled holes through the soles of mine for the chives and it was hard work.
