Today I got a Hammersmith & City line train from Mile End, just because it was there and waiting in the station when I got there about five to nine. Given what happened on the Central line a few minutes later it's probably a good idea I did. I'd left my bike at work overnight, too, which meant I could cycle home and avoid the travel nuttiness. (Still not sure what happens tomorrow at that rate as I was going to tube it in, but still). Then I went to meet him what writes tenthmediaeval in Liverpool Street, got a 25 there since it was the first to turn up, and found that its Oyster readers were all buggered so I got a free journey. And the pub I picked to meet in, entirely on the basis of looking at ratings on beerintheevening.com in the approximate location, turned out to have good beers, keep them well and have space and comfy chairs and be really very handy indeed for Liverpool Street station.

I think I might buy a lottery ticket tomorrow.

(P.S. I didn't say yet because it's been a busy week but thanks to all those that came along to the housewarming and made it a laugh. Not least to Kev & Sarah who brought irrational amounts of beer.)

I manage to work at TfL and did not know about the Central line until I left work yesterday...spent lots of time pressed between random people and carriage wall :(

I got a H&C (sorry, Hammerchapel) train from Mile End this morning and that was practically empty. Hardly anyone in the tube station at all, even though two out of three lines were running as normal. Can't say as I mind if everyone else suddenly gets tube paranoia...

The board at Liv St said Mile End station was closed! Perhaps some communication wires had been crossed somewhere...

It was shut yesterday evening, but it was definitely open this morning, and the TfL website knew it was when I checked. Dammit, does that mean it'll be as horrible as I feared later when people have twigged it's open?

Gotcha. I was thinking about the beer I'd had in the pub last night, which wasn't at all irrational or even pi/pie-joke-related, not the bit about the housewarming.

Happily, braisedbywolves is able to field maths jokes at any hour, I should imagine.
